Container Composting
Container composting is a versatile solution to in-vessel composting where modularity and mobility are important considerations. The container approach operates on the same principals as the tunnel technology with pre-mixed bio-waste being sealed in the containers for 10-18 days of intensive composting under computer controlled forced aeration. Exhaust air is typically treated by bio-filtration. The initial intensive phase of composting within the containerized systems has been found to greatly reduce the odour output of the processed material while reducing the weight of the material by 25-32%. The technology has been successfully applied as the first barrier for ABPR compliance. Container composting is typically coupled to our “C:N” aerated static pile curing system where stable pasteurized compost product can be achieved with a total retention time of 8-12 weeks.
